Inez Melancon Sonnier

Henderson – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at 2 p.m., at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Inez Melancon Sonnier, 100, who passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at St. Agnes Healthcare and Rehab Center.
A rosary was recited by Rev. Keith Landry on Monday.
Rev. Keith Landry officiated at the Funeral Mass. Gift Bearers were Earline Sonnier and Curley LeBlanc.
Interment will followed at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Henderson.
Inez was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed baking and making pastries for her family and friends. She loved traveling with her family. Anytime she could, she would either call or visit the ones she loved.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Sonnier and his wife, Earline, Nelson Sonnier and Kenny Sonnier; her daughter, Verlie LeBlanc and her husband, Curley; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Wilson Sonnier; her son, Donald Sonnier; her parents, Arvillion and Alice Laviolette Melancon; two sisters, four brothers, four half-sisters, and one half-brother.
Pallbearers were Ricky LeBlanc, Corey LeBlanc, Chet Sonnier, Tate Sonnier, Dirck Sonnier, Troy Sonnier, and Mike Sonnier.
The family would like to give a special thank you to St. Agnes Healthcare and Rehab and to Hospice of Acadiana for the compassionate care and attention given to Inez in her time of need.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Henderson was in charge of arrangements.
