Eunice Douet Borel

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2014, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Eunice Douet Borel, 92, who passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continued at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Rev. Ed Degeyter officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Sherry Lanclos and Denise Green. Gift Bearers were Kelsey Louviere and Alexis Bonin.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mrs. Borel, the matriarch of her family, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Eunice enjoyed being a part of her Pokeno and Bourrée clubs in Coteau Holmes and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved Cajun music and dancing. Spending time with her family and cooking for them was a priceless treasure for her. She was a “people person” who enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by four sons, Evrard Paul Borel, Terry Andrew Borel and wife Mona, Glenn Borel and Ray Mitchel Borel; seven daughters, Ella Mae Vincent and husband Russell, Barbara Ann Cade, Anna Faye Tauzin and husband Javis, Amelie Green and husband Aaron, Inez Berthelot and husband Vernon, Claudette Case and husband Mark, and Roxanne Guidry and husband Glenn; 30 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Evrard Borel; her parents, Desiree and Emily Theriot Douet; three sons, Steven, Ernest and Kernest Borel; three brothers, John, Alexander and Paul Douet; her sister, Melanie Champagne; a grandson, Raven Boudreaux; and two great-grandchildren, Kennedie Boudreaux and Lilly Lopez.
Pallbearers were Trevor Vincent, Blaine Cade, Blaize Borel, Dale Green, Casey Berthelot, Josh Case, Lucas Borel and Dorsey Boudreaux.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
