Elaine Granger Angelle

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Elaine Granger Angelle, 83, who passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at her home surrounded by her daughters.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Fr. Donald Pelous officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Randy Angelle and Myra Kay Guidry. Eucharistic ministers were Elaine Angelle and Claudette Stelly. Interment followed at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Cecilia.
Elaine was born in Breaux Bridge to the late Percy Granger and Busie Guidry Boutte. She was a religion teacher, parishioner, and a member of the Ladies Altar Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years. Elaine was very proud of her native French Cajun language and heritage. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends, especially spoiling her 11 grandchildren. She was a self-taught seamstress who designed and sewed her senior homecoming suit and all five wedding dresses for her daughters.
Elaine was bestowed a national recognition for her fund-raising efforts for the NASA program by donating afghans she crocheted. She was a devoted caregiver for her mother-in-law, her mother, and later her husband. Elaine will be remembered for gathering the family together on Sundays and making it a family day. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank her sitter, Katrina Roy and Hospice of Acadiana for their love and care.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Angela Broussard and husband Kurt, Melisa Brasseaux and husband Dwayne “Bross,” Cabrina Guidry and husband Melvin “Stretch,” Elaine Adele Huval and husband Rowdy, and Clair Blanchard and husband Allen Jr.; stepmother, Nell Granger; brother-in-law, Francis Dupuis; sisters-in-law, Gloria Braun and Genevieve Colligan and spouse Joe; 11 grandchildren, Barret Broussard and spouse Elise, Alexis Broussard, Angelle and Allison Brasseaux, Rainey and Trace Guidry, Forest and Hunner Huval, and Catherine, Erin, and Josie Blanchard.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Clarence Angelle; father, Percy Granger; mother, Busie Guidry Boutte; stepfather, Lotar Boutte; brother, Carol Granger (Julliette); sister, Janet Marks (Lawrence); father and mother-in-law, Will and Jeanne Angelle; brothers-in-law, Burton Angelle Sr. (Shirley), Harold Angelle (Genevieve), and William Braun; and sisters-in-law, Janet Dupuis and Louella Broussard (Wilson).
Pallbearers were Melvin “Stretch” Guidry, Rowdy Huval, Kurt Broussard, Al Blanchard, Dwayne “Bross” Brasseaux, Barret Broussard, Forest Huval, Trace Guidry, Hunner Huval and Todd Granger.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul, Toby and Percy Granger, John, Randy, Will, Leon, Kenneth, Dean and Gary Angelle, and Kim Menard.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge, was in charge of arrangements.
