Edward ‘Ed’ Guidry
Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Edward “Ed” Guidry, 63, who passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 7 .a.m until 12:30 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday by Deacon Butch Hebert.
Rev. Brian Webre officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scripture readings were read by Drake Boutte and Kim LeBlanc. Gift Bearers were his daughters.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
He is survived by his daughters, Cecile (David) Stelly of Cecilia, Windy (Todd) Romero of St. Martinville and Lanette (Ernie) Boutte of St. Martinville; his brother, Larris Guidry and companion Paula of Breaux Bridge; his sister, Suzie Guidry of Breaux Bridge; his brother-in-law, Charles (Brenda) Douet of Breaux Bridge; and his grandchildren, Kelsie Stelly, Jude Stelly, Seth Romero, Riley Romero, Drake Boutte and Addison Boutte.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leona Frederick Guidry and Harris Guidry; and his beloved wife, Doris Guidry.
Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, cattle farming and loved to shop at Catin’s. Mr. Ed always said “If no store has it, Catins will.” He worked in the oil field most of his life and enjoyed every minute. Ed was married to rhw love of his life, Doris, who passed away in 2008. During those 37 years, he and Doris brought into this world three adorable daughters whom they loved unconditionally.
The family would like to extend special thanks the staff of the 3rd floor at Lafayette General Hospital and his pulmonary doctors, Drs. Guidry, Brown, Rosson, Broussard and Dieguez, for the care that they provided.
Pallbearers were David Stelly, Todd Romero, Ernie Boutte, Larris Guidry, Waylon Devillier and Charles Douet.
Honorary pallbearers were all his grandchildren, Ted Talley, Ryan Guidry, Tyler Richter, Lyle “Yard Dog” Gallet, and employees of J.P. Oil of Breaux Bridge.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
