Former legislator, judge
MANY – Services for former legislator and judge John S. Pickett, Jr. were Friday. He died Feb. 5 at age 93.
He was a B-17 top turret gunner in World War II, flying 29 combat missions over Europe. He was a former member of the Sabine Parish School Board and the Louisiana House of Representatives. He was a judge for the 11th Judicial District for 18 years.
Survivors include his wife Joanne, three sons and two daughters.

Former principal
CALHOUN – Services for retired principal James “J.P.” Mobley, Jr. are Monday. He died at age 82.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was former principal of several schools, including Calhoun High.
Survivors include his wife Katherine and three children.
