Alvin Raymond Pontiff

Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for Alvin Raymond Pontiff, 72, who passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home in Henderson from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Monday and continued on Tuesday at 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Rev. Garret McIntyre officiated at the Funeral Service. Readers and Gift Bearers were Caitlin Guidry and Blake Hightower.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in Henderson.
Alvin enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with engines, working and building small boats, riding bikes, dancing, gardening, listening to French music, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gale Melancon Pontiff of Breaux Bridge; his daughters, Karen Guidry and companion Tanny of Cecilia, and Kristine Pontiff and companion Ben of Breaux Bridge; his brothers, Allen Pontiff of Carencro, Herbert Pontiff and wife Betty of Henderson, Octave Pontiff and wife Helen of LaPlace, and Gerald Pontiff and wife Donna of Arnaudville; his sister, Marylin Guidry of Henderson; his sister-in-law, Lou Pontiff of Arnaudville; and his grandchildren, Caitlin Guidry of Lafayette and Blake Hightower of Breaux Bridge.
He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Pontiff Jr.; his mother, Agnes Latiolais Pontiff; and his brother, Joe Pontiff.
Pallbearers were Allen Pontiff, Octave Pontiff, Gerald Pontiff, Tanny Latiolais, Ben Collins and Nathan Patin.
Honorary pallbearer was Herbert Pontiff.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice Compassus for their care and compassion during his time of need.
