Senior apartment construction seen in 60 days
Construction is expected to begin within 60 days on a seniors apartment complex in East Eunice.
A non-profit corporation consisting of several partner agencies will build the 42-unit complex for low-income seniors.
Fred Cornforth, president and CEO of the Idaho-based non-profit Commercial Development, Inc., said work should begin on the site within two months.
CDI received a U.S. Housing and Urban Affairs capital advance of just more than $1 million for the project in January 2006.
CDI’s grant is for 13 units. Other partners in the group, including Southern Breeze, will finance the remainder of the units.
The apartments will be on the site of a former nursing home on Nile Street.
