Shirley Boudreaux Berard

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Shirley Boudreaux Berard, 76, at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Coteau Holmes. Fr. Bill Melancon officiated. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Visitation qas held at the funeral home on Monday from 9 a.m. until the service time with a rosary being prayed at 11 a.m.
A native of St. Martinville and resident of Coteau Holmes, Shirley passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Lafayette surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was a kind and loving woman who enjoyed the simple life of country living. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bourré, and liked going to the casino. Shirley was also an avid reader, who loved to sit down with a good book. She would often visit with family and friends, catching up on their lives and chatting about the good old days. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Shirley will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Daigle and husband Wayne of Coteau Holmes, Annette Bourque of Coteau Holmes, Darlene Arnaud and husband Charles of Coteau Holmes, Marlene Frederick and husband Carl of Grand Bois, Jackie Savoy and husband Roy Jr. of Coteau Holmes, and Michelle Domingue and husband Tony of Coteau Holmes; step-daughters, Susan Berard of Carencro and Sheri Barynes of Vidalia; sisters, Agnes Louviere and Mary Jane Melancon; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Allen Berard; parents, O’Neil and Annette Johnson Boudreaux; granddaughter, Makala Domingue; son-in-law, Albert “BooBoo” Bourque Jr.; first husband, Ernest Chatagnier; and siblings.
Pallbearers were members and friends of the family.
