St. Martinville man in fight busted for drugs

A complaint of a fight in progress in the 100 block of Perkins on Thursday, Dec. 3, resulted in an arrest for possession of drugs and a firearm.
Arrested was Jeremy Fontenette, 28, of St. Martinville.
SMPD Chief Calder Hebert said Fontenette fled from the scene as officers attempted to question him. During a short foot pursuit, Fontenette threw several items onto the ground, Hebert said.
Fontenette was subsequently booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, methamphetamine, possession of cocaine over 28 grams, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving proceeds from narcotics, resisting an officer.
This constitutes a second offense for Fontenette, Hebert said, since he was arrested by SMPD in May on suspicion of several drug charges resulting from the execution of a search warrant.
