Second boat finishes Tour de la Rivière Rouge!

Paddled 275 miles in a solo kayak

David Dupree of Rayville finished the 275-mile Tour de la Rivière Rouge Wednesday with an adjusted time of 97 hours, 42 minutes and 6 seconds.
Dupree, paddling solo in a kayak, is the second boat to finish this inaugural marathon from Shreveport-Bossier City, down the Red River to the Atchafalaya, motor-portaging at Krotz Springs to Bayou Courtableau with a finish here just yards from the head of Bayou Teche.
A four-man, one-woman (and four-Texan, one Louisianian) team finished Monday in 49 hours, 43 minutes and 58 seconds.
Twenty minutes were deducted from the times to compensate for an unscheduled motor-portage around a bridge demolition in Alexandria Saturday.
Ten boats started, three solo paddlers dropped out, and the rest are still en route to Port Barre.
Most will continue on to Berwick as part of the 135-mile, three-day staged Tour du Teche.
