Citizen's group formed to support area lawmen
A group of concerned citizens and residents of St. Martin Parish recently formed a group called the St. Martin Parish Friends of Law Enforcement (F.O.L.E) with Don “Tuffy” Resweber serving as chairman.
The pur[pose of F.O.L.E. is to show support and appreciation to everyone involved with law enforcement. Its motto: “Thank you for all you do.”
An inaugural meeting/banquet was held Wednesday, Aug. 26 to discuss upcoming events to show appreciation and support to local law enforcement personnel.
A police officer serves as a protector of the community and faces danger on a daily basis which has proved deadly to at least two area officers over the last two weeks.
In attendance were Sheriff Ronny Theriot, District Attorney Bo Duhé, Parish President Guy Cormier, State Representatives Mike Huval and Terry Landry, State Senator Fred Mills; Commander on Veteran’s Affairs Capt. Carrol Knott, Capt. James Cormier and Lt. Chris Ledee with LSP Troop I, Lt. Capt. Jack Bienvenu, SMSO; Breaux Bridge City Marshal Jerry Frederick, Police Chiefs Eddy LeCompte (Arnaudville) Rollie Cantu (Breaux Bridge) Brannon Decou (Broussard) Leroy Guidry (Henderson) Ronald Solarie (Parks) and Calder Hebert (St. Martinville); Constables Al Cormier, Ward 1; David Dugas, Ward 3; Cush Williams, Ward 2 and chairman Resweber.
