Bond work fills board’s agenda

Much of the agenda for today’s (Wednesday) monthly meeting of the St. Martin School Board deals with a multitude of construction and maintenance work being done at parish schools with proceeds from two recent bond issues.
The board’s August meeting is set for 5 p.m. today at the Administrative Office on Corporate Boulevard in Breaux Bridge.
The board’s Finance Committee is set to held a brief meeting at 4 p.m.
In addition to a number of routine matters, today’s agenda includes:
•Authorize the staff to use bond contingency funds – not to exceed $150,000 – for improvements at the College & Career Readiness Center being opened on the old Breaux Bridge Elementary campus on West Bridge Street.
•Regarding the 2009 and 2013 bond programs, accept the following projects as substantially complete:
1) Cabling projects at BB High, Stephensville Elementary, Catahoula Elementary, Parks Middle, Cecilia Jr. High, Cecilia High, Cecilia Primary, Teche Elementary and SM High schools.
2) Painting and carpet/tile replacement at SM High.
3) Classroom renovations, and roof/AC repairs at BB Elementary.
4) Library and computer room renovations at BB Primary.
5) Special ed classroom renovations at BB Jr. High.
6) Bleacher repairs at SM High.
7) Painting at SM Primary.
•Acknowledgement/acceptance of quotes for:
1) Relocation of portable building, including tree removal and fence repairs at BB Primary – Bulliard Construction, $22,935.
2) Limestone parking at BB Elementary – Bulliard Construction, $67,000.
3) Painting and general cleanup at BB Jr. High – E.L. Habetz, $62,600.
4) Relocation of furniture/equipment (labor only) old BB Elementary to new BBE; old BBE to BBJH; old BB Primary to new BBP – Acadiene Renovations, $67,900.
5) Painting at SM Primary – JMA, $59,500.
•Requests by board members to 1) discuss custodian at College & Career Readiness Center (Richard Potier); 2) discuss hiring of bus shop mechanic (Jimmy Blanchard); 3) discuss revisions to employment applications (Blanchard); 4) discuss board policy regarding employees in the system running for political office (Blanchard).
•Approve community service program agreement between the board and the Breaux Bridge City Court.
