St. Martinville woman arrested in 'Catfish'-like scam

Following an investigation into reports of possible theft by fraud on behalf of a female individual, investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office discovered a scheme was similar to the MTV show, “Catfish.”
Terri Lynn Etienne, 27, allegedly created fake social media profiles portraying herself as several different people.
Once she established a romantic connection with the individual, she would request money from the victim through fake and fraudulent methods.
Etienne was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on suspicion of four counts of theft by fraud, over $5,000.
As of this posting, she was being held without bond.
