Board to honor school retirees

School board members will honor the system’s 2015 retirees along with the recipients of board scholarships during their June meeting set for 5 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Administrative Office, 625 Corporate Blvd. in Breaux Bridge.
The board’s finance committee will meet at 4 p.m. to review a number of items that will be presented for consideration by the full board.
In addition to a long list of routine matters, today’s agenda also includes:
•Consider approval of proposed projects included in the board’s Master Plan that could be supported by future bond funds.
•Consider approving finance committee recommendations for 1) extending group health coverage to bus attendants; 2) salary budget; 3) school resource officer contract with St. Martin Sheriff’s Office; and 4) assistant principals at Breaux Bridge Elementary, Breaux Bridge Jr. High and Cecilia High.
•Consider entering into an intergovernmental agreement with the City of St. Martinville for its use of the Nature Trail facility as a tourist attraction.
•Regarding the 2009 and 2014 bond programs, 1) Advertise for bids for indoor baseball facility at St. Martinville Sr. High and roofing at St. Martinville Primary; 2) Receive proposals for additional bleachers at football field, soccer goal, electrical work on press box and scoreboard, fencing, fieldhouse and concession stand repairs, pressbox improvements and new basketball lockers at St. Martinville Sr. High; 3) Authorize substantial completion order for Breaux Bridge Jr. High classroom building; 4) Take proposals for the enclosure of the lobby area of the Cecilia High multipurpose gym and parking lot repairs; 5) Consider placing old building near the old Early Learning Center on the list of buildings to be demolished; 6) Accept low bid for the lighting of the Cecilia High softball field and seeking bids for the lighting of the Cecilia High baseball field; 7) Consider resodding baseball field and football practice field at Cecilia High.
•Discus Bulliard lease of 16th Section property.
•At the request of board members, 1) consider revisions to policy regarding CDL licenses for junior high and high schools (Jimmy Blanchard); 2) Consider closing the administrative office on Monday, July 6 following the July 4th holiday (Aaron Flegeance).
•Approve 2015-16 school board meeting dates.
