Lafayette man arrested in February shooting in St. Martin Parish
The investigation into a February shooting incident off Grand Anse Highway led to the arrest of a man in Lafayette on Wednesday, March 11.
Darron Carter, 17, of Lafayette, was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center in lieu of bond over $1.5 million.
On the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 17, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of shots fired by someone driving erratically on Johnson Road. One person was treated and released for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Armed with an arrest warrant, SMSO investigators, along with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, Lafayette Police Department, Louisiana State Police, and the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force, arrested Carter on suspicion of attempted first degree murder (six counts) and aggravated criminal damage to property.
He is awaiting extradition to St. Martin Parish. Bond was set at $1,530,000.
