Calais victor in a tight race for Breaux Bridge mayor
Former City Councilman Ricky Calais pulled off a narrow victory in Saturday's runoff against Parish Council member Jill Hebert.
Calais had 1493 votes, 51 percent, to Hebert's 1,423 , 49 percent.
Turnout was 55.7 percent.
In a runoff for the Division G seat on the 16th Judicial District Court, Lucretia Pecantte got 62 percent and Curtis Sigur 39 percent.
In the much-watched U.S. Senate race, U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy polled 60 percent to incumbent Sen. Mary Landrieu's 40 in St. Martin Parish with all precincts in. Statewide, with 78 percent of the vote, Cassidy was leading Landrieu 58-42 percent and Landrieu had conceded.
