Harry Paul Mouton Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Harry Paul Mouton Sr., 94, who passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014.
Visiting hours were observed from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continued on Saturday at 8 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Ed Degeyter officiated at the Funeral Mass with Deacons Greg Mouton and Marcel “Butch” Hebert con-celebrating. Scriptures were read by Shelbi Mohr, Ryan Daniels and Christopher Allain. Gift Bearers were Lexi Stelly and Morgan Hebert.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mr. Mouton was a veteran of World War II, having honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a charter member of the American Legion–Richard Champagne Post 289. He was retired from Southern Pacific Railroad, where he worked as a Division Engineer of Tracks – the railroad was his life and he loved reminiscing about his 35 years of “railroading.”
He and his wife, Monita, loved camping and traveling throughout the United States and especially loved to dance. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by three sons, Harry P. Mouton Jr. and wife Dale Marie Guidry, and Kenneth Mouton and wife Sandra Serrette, all of Breaux Bridge, and Greg Mouton and wife Sharon Theriot of Spring, Texas; two daughters, Judy Johnson and husband Cedrick of Youngsville, and Tammy Allain and husband Chris of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Monita Dugas Mouton; his parents, Louis and Ella Solari Mouton; his brothers, Pat Mouton, J. B. Mouton and Edward Mouton; his sister, Margaret Dixon; two granddaughters, Melissa Mohr and Jessica Ketelson; a great-granddaughter, Madison Mohr; and a great-grandson, Jeremy Ketelson.
Pallbearers were Cody Lanclos, Nick LeBlanc, Brant Mankin, Mitchell Allain, Brennan Daniels and Kyle Mouton.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
