New Iberia man drowns near Catahoula boat landing

Shortly before 6:00 p.m. Saturday, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a possible drowning at the Catahoula Boat Landing. Upon deputies arrival, they were informed that Marques K. Bogan, 21, New Iberia was swimming with friends and failed to surface. A friend was able to locate him and attempts were made to revive him, however, he never regained consciousness and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death and no further information is available at this time.
