Known sex offender jailed on forced rape

Based a lengthy investigation that developed DNA evidence, the St. Martin Sheriff’s Office (SMSO) arrested Joseph H. Auguillard Jr., 29, of Breaux Bridge, in connection with a Jan. 19 sexual assault complaint.
Auguillard, a registered sex offender, was arrested on suspicion of committing forcible rape.
In February, following an investigation into an allegation of non-compliance by a sex offender, SMSO deputies had arrested Auguillard on suspicion of failure to register and subsequently released on bond.
Auguillard was once again booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. Bond has not yet been set at this time.
