Cypress Island cypress goes ka-boom!

BIG BOOM – It got everybody’s attention along the 2000 stretch of Cypress Island Highway around 7 p.m. on Tuesday of last week (July 8).
And here is what the lightning bolt did: blew up a cypress tree homeowner Inez Berthelot estimates was at least a hundred years old, scattered firewood-size chunks across the yard, including one that busted out the side of the swimming pool a good 50 yards away.
