St. Martin teams have a rough week

Last week was a rough one for St. Martin Parish high school baseball teams, with Breaux Bridge, Cecilia and St. Martinville playing a total of 10 games and managing only one win.

The Bridge (8-6)notched the only victory, topping Opelousas in tournament action in New Iberia. In another tourney game, the Tigers fell to Delcambre. Earlier last week Breaux Bridge was edged out by Notre Dame, 9-8.

St. Martinville dropped regular season games to Loranger and Delcambre, along with tournament contests to Rayne and Fairview to see its season record slip to 3-11.

Cecilia is still looking for its first win of the season after falling to Opelousas Catholic, Highland Baptist and Port Barre last week.

The teams move into District 5-4A action this week with the following games on tap:

•Thursday, March 27 – St. Martinville at St. Thomas More; Westgate at Breaux Bridge; Cecilia at Patterson.

•Saturday, March 29 – St. Martinville at Westgate; St. Thomas More at Breaux Bridge; Cecilia at Northside.

•Tuesday, April 1 – Washington-Marion at St. Martinville; Breaux Bridge at Cecilia.
