April 1 deadline to apply for Sheriffs’ school scholarship
The Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program will once again this y ear award scholarships to worthy St. Martin Parish students with resources made available through the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program.
One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior from St. Martin Parish. There are no restrictions on how the scholarship is spent. The scholarship is not a loan and will be awarded as a gift to defray the rising cost of tuition and related expenses in higher education.
The only limitations are that the applicants must be permanent residents of Louisiana; that scholarships be utilized in higher education within the State of Louisiana, and that students be enrolled as full time, undergraduate students.
Applicants must be eligible for admission to the school they indicate on their application.
All scholarship winners will be announced by May 1.
Completed applications must be submitted to Maj. Ginny Higgins at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office no later than April 1, 2014. The mailing address is P.O. Box 247, St. Martinville, La. 70582. Or, they can be dropped off at the Sheriff’s Office located at 400 St. Martin St., in St. Martinville, labeled to the attention of Maj. Ginny Higgins.
