LSUE continues to hold top ranking

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 9, 2008) -- It wasn't unanimous this time, but for the second straight week LSU - Eunice is the No. 1 team in the RINGORT NJCAA Division II Baseball rankings. With a 30-7 overall record, the Bengals received 94 poll points and seven of eight first place votes.
Western Oklahoma State College is second in the poll with 88 total points and they received the other first place vote.
Lenoir Community College (N.C.), St. Catharine's College (Kent.), and Redlands Community College (Okla.) round out this week's top five.
LSU - Eunice got a big win last week, defeating the No. 4 ranked team in Division I, San Jacinto College (Texas), 14-3 on April 3. The Bengals then swept past Region 23 foe Pearl River Community College (Miss.) 18-7 and 15-12 in a twinbill on April 6.
The Bengals have two quality starters in pre-season All-American Ryan Boudreaux (7-0, 3 CG, 51 IP, 48 K, 2.29 ERA) and Corey Lopez (6-0, 41.1 IP, 33 K, 2.40 ERA), who have combined for 13 wins and have allowed 23 earned runs over 90 innings.
Offensively, Kellen Bozeman leads the Bengals with a .421 batting average, nine homers and 94 total bases. Delta Cleary (ranked #69 two-year college prospect by Perfect Game Cross Checker) leads the team with 23 stolen bases and 43 RBI to go along with a .388 batting average and five home runs.
The Bengals are next in action April 11-13 when they face Baton Rouge Community College (La.) in a three-game series.
