TECHE Project Bashing Trash in New Iberia

The TECHE Project has taken its highly successful Bayou Teche Trash Bash & Boogie downstream a little to New Iberia’s beautiful City Park.
This Saturday, April 18, starting at 9 a.m., and in conjunction with Project Front Yard – Iberia Parish, The TECHE Project – the acronym stands for Teche Ecology, Culture and History Education – is bringing its signature combination of work and fun to New Iberia.
Volunteers are needed, boats and life vests will be provided by Bayou Teche Experience, the Breaux Bridge-based kayaking center.
Or you can bringing your own boat, motorized or not.
Landlubbers are welcome to join a cleanup effort around the city.
The first fifty volunteers will receive a Trash Bash and Boogie T-shirt. Cleanup volunteers will receive a complimentary Jambalaya lunch and drinks. Bayou Teche Brewery will be on hand to showcase some of their craft LA-31 brews.
At 1 p.m., the Grammy nominated Pine Leaf Boys trio will provide free live music.
“I have lived on Bayou Teche all of my life and I wanted to give something back to this unique waterway and my community,” said TECHE Project Bayou Operations coordinator, Dane Thibodeaux.
“The Trash Bash and Boogie is a great opportunity for those of us who love the Teche to come out and show our gratitude for the beauty that this bayou provides.”
To contribute to Trash Bash and Boogie or to report litter or invasive species on your area of the Bayou Teche, contact Thibodeaux, techeproject@gmail.com.
