Killer of wrecker driver on I-10 sentenced

District Judge Keith Comeaux Monday, Aug. 25, sentenced a Texas man to 12 years at hard labor for hitting and killing a wrecker driver on the shoulder of I-10 last year.
Luis Gerardo Molina of Mission, Texas, pleaded guilty to the vehicular homicide of Blaze S. Louviere, 25, of Elizabeth.
In exchange for the plea, Assistant District Attorney Chester Cedars dismissed an ancillary charge of hit and run.
Comeaux specified that Molina must serve three years without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
Louviere was out of his wrecker hooking up to a disabled vehicle on the westbound shoulder of I-10 between Henderson and Breaux Bridge around 3 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2013, when Molina, traveling westbound, left the roadway and stuck him.
Molina was found to have a blood-alcohol level of .120.
