Breaux Bridge man wins choice of SLEMCO vehicles
Lafayette – SLEMCO’s 77th annual meeting turned out great for grand prize winner Brent Nichols of Breaux Bridge. Nichols won, by drawing, a choice from a couple of vehicles provided by Courtesy Automotive Group.
His wife was out of town so he elected to wait for her return so they can both decide whether to choose the car or the truck as their prize.
SLEMCO also awarded $40,000 in college scholarships to 20 students who will be attending college this fall. Winners were Erin Fuselier of Opelousas, Mikayla Brown of Rayne, Kaitlyn Simon of Arnaudville, Emma Lavergne of Crowley, Erika Didier of Rayne, Kailye Baker of Youngsville, Seth Richard of Church Point, Megan Dumatrait of Breaux Bridge, Austin Mire of Lafayette, Matthew Barras of Broussard, Haley Vincent of Youngsville, Brennan Westcott of Lafayette, Lane Istre of Rayne, Trevor Callahan of Kaplan, Gavin Mire of Lafayette, Megan Leger of Cankton, Francesca Harrington of Abbeville, Amiee Baudoin of St. Martinville, Leah Lapoint of Church Point and Amber LeBlanc of St. Martinville.
Additionally, Gary Soileau of St. Landry Parish, Don Resweber of St. Martin Parish and David Simon of Vermilion Parish were elected to three year terms on the SLEMCO Board of Directors.
Board President David Simon of Gueydan and general counsel Jimmy Davidson of Lafayette, spoke to the crowd about the untimely passing of former SLEMCO board president Jerry Meaux last month. Additionally, the State Legislature presented the Meaux family with a proclamation of gratitude for the efforts Jerry Meaux made throughout the years for residents of Acadiana.

Gajan, chief executive officer and general manager, remarked how careful planning and attention to the electrical needs of the SLEMCO membership helps us to make sure we will be able to provide reliable electric power to Acadiana despite any storm, or any unexpected challenge the company will ever face.
SLEMCO provides electric power to residents and businesses in the parishes of Acadia, Avoyelles, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion.
