You'll be driving faster on some parish roads
Speed limits will soon be raised on some roads in the parish.
At the March 1 Parish Council meeting, President Guy Cormier said that a study by a Lafayette traffic consulting firm has shown that on some roads, improved road conditions would justify a higher speed limit without compromising safety.
In the Breaux Bridge area, speed limits on Doyle Melancon Road will rise to 50 mph between Grand Point Highway and the Doyle Melancon bridge. From the bridge to Bridge Street Highway/La. 347 the limit will be 45. On Huval Road the limit will rise to 45. An increase is also in the works for Levert Road near St. Martinville.
