St. Martin native now Maj. Becket Breaux

St. Martin native and resident Becket Breaux last week was promoted to major by Col. Mike Edmonson, superintendent of Louisiana State Police.
Maj. Breaux will be based at the LSP field office in Breaux Bridge, formerly the St. Martin Sheriff’s Office substation, where he will serve as Region II Patrol Major overseeing Troops I, C and D, and the state police Criminal Interdiction Unit.
Col. Edmonson appointed Capt. James Cormier to replace Breaux as commander of Troop I.
Breaux began his law enforcement career with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, joining LSP in 1990 and serving as a patrol trooper and also working in the Criminal Patrol Unit, narcotics section, detective section, and intelligence section before climbing into administrative ranks.
Capt. Cormier is a native and resident of Pointe Coupee Parish where he currently resides. He began his law enforcement career with the Lafayette Police Department in 1991 and graduated from the State Police Academy in 1997.
He was assigned to patrol in the Troop A (Baton Rouge) area and subsequently worked in the Bureau of Investigations narcotics and gaming divisions as well as holding various administrative positions.
For the last year, Capt. Cormier has served as the Criminal Investigations Division Commander of Region II.
