Special School Board meeting May 18

The St. Martin School Board has scheduled a special meeting for 5 p.m. today (Wednesday) at its Administrative Office on Corporate Boulevard here.
Taking up the bulk of the three-page agenda are matters dealing with construction and maintenance projects being funded by bond issues authorized in 2009, 2013 and 2016.
Also on the agenda again is an executive (secret) session to discuss the desegregation litigation.
Other items on today’s agenda include:
•Setting tax millage rates for 2016.
•Regarding the 2009 and 2013 bond programs 1) award bid to Chatmon Construction in the amount of $88,700 for reroofing project at Catahoula Elementary; 2) award bid to Gulf States Automation in the amount of $127,210 for HVAC control upgrades at Breaux Bridge and St. Martinville high schools; 3) award bid to Dore Controls in the amount of $63,140 for HVAC control upgrades at multiple school campuses.
•Regarding 2016 bond program 1) consider awarding contracts for the low bidders (yet to be determined) for Breaux Bridge Jr. High work including abatement, interior renovations and HVAC improvements to classroom buildings adjacent to Administration Building; 2) approve project management contract for Poché Prouet Associates; 3)approve architect contracts.
•Discuss field trips and implications.
•At the request of board members, discuss 1) policies and procedures (Jimmy Blanchard); 2) ownership relative to the old Industrial Arts Building located on St. Martin Parish Government property in St. Martinville (Blanchard); 3) in-school suspension position at Cecilia High School and the 22:1 plus 3 teachers (Blanchard); 4) consider request for waiver of liability insurance and $200 deposit for the New Day Basketball team (Wanda B. Vital).
