March 14 deadline to apply for St. Martin Land scholarships

The deadline to submit applications for the St. Martin Land Company Scholarship Fund, at Community Foundation of Acadiana, is close of business Monday, March 14. The scholarship fund awards two $2,500 scholarships to St. Martin Parish students or residents seeking a post-secondary education.
Applicants must be St. Martin Parish residents attending high schools outside of the parish or students attending private or public high schools in St. Martin Parish.
Students may be recommended by any currently employed teacher of a public or private secondary school in St. Martin Parish, a St. Martin Land Company board member or a St. Martin Bank designee. Criteria for selection will include scholarship, character, community service, leadership and the significance of the proposed education in achieving the applicant’s goal.
“St. Martin Land Company is proud to celebrate ten years of giving through our scholarship fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana,” said James H. Trewin, chairman of the board of the company.
“We enjoy reading the applications and learning about the hard working students in our parish,” Trewin said. “It is our privilege to award scholarships to two of them annually for their achievements.”
The scholarship fund was established at Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA), through the guidance of St. Martin Bank.
Trewin is chairman of the Scholarship Selection Committee, which also includes Guy M. Labbe, executive vice president and CFO of St. Martin Bank, and Cindy Johnstone, vice president and HR officer of St. Martin Bank.
Scholarships will be presented during graduation ceremonies and may be used in any established and accredited university, college, community college or trade school with the approval of the Scholarship Selection Committee.
For more information about the scholarship and application process, contact Kimberly Bourque at (337) 394-7813 or a parish school guidance counselor. The application can also be found at www.stmartinland.com or www.cfacadiana.org/StMartinLand.
