DEBRIS FROM EXPLOSION CLAIMS LIFE OF ST. MARTINVILLE MAN

Shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, July 20,, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a 911 Call regarding an explosion and possible fatality that occurred during the burning of scrap material by some individuals in an area behind Southside Park in St. Martinville.
Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located the deceased victim who was identified as Clayton Charles, 56, St. Martinville.
Members of the St. Martin Parish Evangeline Volunteer Fire Department, along with officials from the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Louisiana State Police, also responded to the scene.
The incident remains under investigation and there are no further details available at this time.
