Cleanest City poster deadline is Friday
The City of St. Martinville and the St. Martinville Garden Club are hosting the 2015 Cleanest City Poster/Essay Contest.
Each poster/essay must be submitted on a trifold board and should reflect the first-place winning slogan, “Green is clean – let’s be a team.”
The essay should be about how to draw the community together to help keep St. Martinville litter-free.
The winning slogan was contributed y Courtney L. Belaire, a third-grader at St. Martinville Primary.
The second-place slogan, “Go green get clean” was submitted by Desnieges Alexander, a sixth-grader at St. Martinville Junior High. And Kalyn Cormier, a ninth-grader at St. Martinville Senior High, offered the third-place slogan, “Go green and let’s clean.”
All entries must be submitted to City Hall in St. Martinville by Friday Feb. 27 no later than 4 p.m.
First, second and third place winners will be announced on Monday, March 16, at the City Council meeting.
The sponsors also ask that schools and local organizations be involved in the beautification of the city and participate in the Annual Trash Bash Saturday, March 14, 9 a.m. until noon, starting at Maison Duchamp.
The morning will include planting; painting and doing last-minute touch-ups before the contest.
The City of St. Martinville will be judged by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation on Wednesday, March 19, at 11 a.m. The judges are Brenda Gautreaux, Kayla Rhodes and Janet Lasseigne, Master Gardeners from Thibodaux.
