Atchafalaya Basin Festival NOT this weekend

Come on out to Henderson and pass a good time at the Atchafalaya Basin Festival NEXT Saturday in the Henry Guidry Memorial Park. Kicking it off is the Fish Courtbouillion and Gumbo Cookoff at 7 a.m. followed by the Car, Jeep, Truck and Motorcycle show from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Live entertainment includes: •11 a.m. – Al Berard Family Band. •1 p.m. – Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin Cajuns. •3 p.m. – Geno Delafose and the French Rockin Boogie. •5 p.m. – Terry and the Zydeco Bad Boys. •7 p.m. – Hunter Courville and Cajun Fever. •9 p.m. – Louisiana Red. More than 25 art and crafts vendors will be on the festival grounds. Commemorative festival T-shirts and posters designed by local artist Tony Bernard will be on sale. Plenty of food, fun and live music, bring a lawn chair and leave the ice chest at home. Football games, including LSU-Alabama, will be broadcast on a big screen. The Atchafalaya Basin Festival is a fundraiser for Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson and Sacred Heart of Jesus Chapel in Butte La Rose. The festival began in 2007 and has always been a FREE event that is a celebration of community. Monies raised at the festival have helped with projects at the churches, including parking lot improvements, building maintenance and repairs. The Atchafalaya Basin Festival is a member of the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals and has been the recipient of numerous awards including New Event of the Year, Marketing Award, Poster of the Year, T-Shirt of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
