Acadian Memorial Festival Cancelled due to weather
Organizers of the Acadian Memorial Heritage Festival and Wooden Boat Congrès announced its cancellation Saturday, March 21, due to a forecast of an 80 to 100 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday.
"The festival is an outdoor and on-the-water event, and we want to ensure everyone`s safety," said Elaine Clement, the Memorial's executive director.
"The festival will not be re-scheduled, but we are looking at putting on parts of the festival throughout 2015, including the re-enactment of the arrival of the Acadians," she said.
"Please stay tuned for more details. And be sure to put October 8, 2015 and March 19, 2016 on your calendars! We`re celebrating the Grand Réveil Acadien in St. Martinville in October, and the Acadian Memorial Festival in 2016!"
