‘Friends’ formed for L-E Site enhancement

A recently formed group will work to enhance and support the Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site here.
Les Amis de Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site (LALESHS) is a non-profit, charitable, non-political group whose mission is to recruit community volunteers committed to enhancing and actively supporting Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site with its unique objective to educate the public on the French-speaking Creole and the Acadian immigrants who began settling in South Louisiana in the 1700s.
Elaine Guidroz, president, says “We have a strong desire to preserve the past for the enrichment of future generations. Currently, we are seeking business sponsors to add to our growing list of supporters which already includes State Senator Fred Mills, Cajun Spraying Equipment, 3-D Chemicals, Claude’s Trailer & Sales, Richie’s Drive Inn, Johnny’s Pizza House, Cade’s Market, Tom’s Tax Services, Cajun Chef and Rytek Screen Printing.”
“A ‘Stocking Stuffer’ Membership Drive will begin in early December at area businesses around St. Martinville,” Guidroz added. “Individual membership cards will be available for $5 for adults as well as children. Membership cards will be personalized, laminated, and gift wrapped. A perfect gift for that hard-to-buy-for person or anyone who wants to show their support for Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site! You can even buy one for yourself.”
Contact Guidroz at 501--4407 or e-mail: LALE1815@gmail.com for business sponsorship, individual membership or additional information.
