St. Martin jailer goes to jail for smuggling dope to prisoners

ST. MARTINVILLE
A corrections officer for the St. Martin Sheriff’s Office finds himself in jail, accused of smuggling marijuana into the cells.
An investigation into the presence of contraband inside the parish jail resulted in the arrest of Marshall Babineaux Jr., 22, of Breaux Bridge on Tuesday, June 3.
Babineaux was booked on suspicion of malfeasance in office, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and two counts of introducing contraband in a penal institution.
Babineaux had been employed by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office since August 2013.
