Shots fired in St. Martinville's Ledoux area; one man dead

A dead man was found in a vehicle seen leaving the scene of a reported shooting here shortly after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, according to a news release by the St. Martin Sheriff’s Office.
The identity of the victim had not been determined at presstime.
SMSO reported that city police officers, responding to reports of shots fired in the Ledoux area of St. Martinville, encountered a vehicle leaving the scene and gave pursuit. The vehicle came to an abrupt stop and two black men fled on foot.
The officers discovered the body of a third man inside the vehicle.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
