KAPLAN MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOLLOWING DOMESTIC DISPUTE

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Catahoula. Upon Deputies arrival, they discovered Jerry Ferguson, 39, Kaplan, in a vehicle at a residence next door to his estranged wife’s house.
During the course of the event, he then exited the vehicle and entered his estranged wife’s residence (which was unoccupied at the time of the incident) and refused to comply with deputies' requests to exit and further gave verbal threats to the deputies. Deputies continued to communicate with Ferguson to comply and exit the residence. Approximately three hours later, he exited the house and was taken into custody without incident and arrested and charged as follows:

14:37.7 Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault
14:37.2 Aggravated Assault Upon a Peace Officer with a Firearm
Following his arrest he was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charges.
