BREAUX BRIDGE MAN ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH A JANUARY HOMICIDE IN IBERVILLE PARISH

Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, arrested Mark A. Roy, 44, Breaux Bridge Tuesday, April 15, in connection with a January homicide in Iberville Parish.
While investigating the theft of an excavator from an environmental services company at a chemical plant in Plaquemine, detectives with the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office discovered the body of Avery Hastings, 42, an employee of the environmental company, in a field in Rosedale.
Iberville Parish deputies identified Roy as a suspect in the theft of the excavator and the murder of Hastings.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Roy, who was arrested at his residence without incident.
He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center and was later released to investigators with the Iberville SO. He was subsequently transported back to Iberville Parish and charged with second degree murder and felony theft.
