Breaking: Defendant attempts suicide at St. Martin courthouse

Unofficial sources are saying a defendant in trial at the 16th Judicial District Courthouse here slit his own throat after being found guilty early this afternoon.
The person was taken away by ambulance.
An Acadian Ambulance helicopter was standing by on the St. Martinville Senior High football field but left without the patient.
The identify of the person has not been released and we don't know the medical condition.
No word on what weapon was used and how it happened to be in the courthouse.
