3 men jailed for cockfighting in Breaux Bridge

St. Martinville – Following a tip, investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Thursday, Oct. 8, busted a suspected cock fighting ring at a residence on Nanny Road in Breaux Bridge.
Armed with a search warrant, deputies raided the residence and confiscated 48 roosters and approximately 300 hens and chicks, along with items related to cockfighting.
The investigation was conducted with the assistance of the St. Martin Parish animal coordinator, St. Martin and St. Landry Parish Animal Control personnel and veterinarian Dr. Jackie Simon.
Patrick Stelly, 50, of Washington, Dallas Grossie 30, of Butte La Rose, and Brandon Cormier, 28, of Breaux Bridge, were booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on suspicion of multiple counts of cockfighting and cruelty to animals.
The St. Martin Sheriff’s Office asks anyone who suspects illegal activity is taking place in their neighborhood to please report it to the SMSO at (337) 394-3071.
