Breaux Bridge – Superintendent Dr. Lottie Beebe announced the appointment of two new school principals during last week’s monthly school board meeting and received approval for the realignment of two central staff positions.
The new principals are Lydia Capdepon at Breaux Bridge Primary and Suzanne LeBouef at Cecilia Primary. Both women have been serving as assistant principals at their respective schools for several years.
They are succeeding former principals Pennye Huval at BBP and Wanda Guidry at Cecilia Primary who were among 29 supervisors, principals and teachers who have retired during the past year, along with 23 paraprofessionals, that were honored during last week’s meeting.
The staff adjustments include Anthony Polotzola, who is currently supervisor of organizational structures, taking on the additional duties of supervisor of human capital following the retirement of Brenda Courville, who has been serving as supervisor of human resources.
And Nicole Angelle, a coordinator of early childhood and family involvement, will be promoted to supervisor of early childhood, a federally funded position.
In other business at last week’s meeting, the board:
•Delayed approval of substantial completion on the new Instructional Center but authorized the superintendent, board president and architect to authorize approval if conditions are met prior to the July meeting.
•Discussed but delayed action on raising the pay of substitute bus drivers from $37.50 to $60 per day, more in line with the pay of surrounding parishes.
•Authorized architects to proceed to the next phase of plans for a number of improvements to athletic facilities at the parish’s three high schools despite objections from board member Mark Hebert who complained that reports on the projects made at board meetings did not provide adequate information.
