BREAUX BRIDGE NATIVE Alana Sonnier Adams has been selected to the New Orleans Saints 2015-16 Saintsations cheerleader squad. (Submitted)

Former Crawfish Queen now N.O. ‘Saintsation’

New Orleans – The New Orleans Saints football team has announced the selection of Breaux Bridge native Alana Sonnier Adams as a member of the 2015-16 Saintsations cheerleader squad. This will be Alana’s second consecutive year with the elite group.
Alana served as the 2005 Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival Queen and is the daughter of Ron and Cheryl Sonnier.
She also appeared as the November 2005 Teche News Bayou Belle.
The Saints organization conducts annual tryouts for the 36-member squad and the competition draws as many as 200 applicants. To qualify, one must be physically fit, talented in dance/cheer, and be able to present herself in a professional manner.
A team spokesmen said that “Because the Saintsations are influential role models to the youth in our communities, we select women who are committed to leading a healthy, productive lifestyle. It is a demanding position as each cheerleader learns several new dances for each home game including halftime performances as well as calendar sales throughout the football season.”
Through the years, the Saintsations have become highly recognized and respected as a group of women who serve as goodwill ambassadors for the NFL and New Orleans Saints organization. Team members perform at many exciting events and make numerous personal appearances including modeling and public speaking throughout the world.
Alana resides in Baton Rouge with her husband Michael and assists him at his business, Workforce Benefit Solutions, when time permits. Recently she completed four half marathons, running in races across the country from San Diego, Calif., to Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
Alana graduated from UL-Lafayette in 2009 with a degree in Health Information Management and maintains her Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification.
