Parks man charged with killing half brother

Parks resident Wilfred J. Viator, 50, has been charged with one count of second degree murder following his arrest this past weekend.
Investigators with the St. Martin Sheriff’s Office say deputies responded to a 911 call from Viator’s residence around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. A suicidal subject was requesting assistance.

Catholic Priest Arrested for Child Pornography

On July 27, investigators from the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Special Victims Unit arrested a Catholic priest in St. Martin Parish. The arrest was the result of an investigation into his possible possession of pornography involving juveniles.

The St. Martin School Board expanded its footprint here last Thursday when it closed on a deal to purchase the Pellerin Insurance corporate building and its 2.34 acres of land on Rees Street for $1,775,00.

Bond projects on school board agenda

Board members will meet at 5 p.m. today (Wednesday) for their monthly session. The board’s finance committee has also set a meeting for 4 p.m.
