Be on the lookout for escaped prisoner in St. Martin Parish

Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly says 29-year-old LeRoy "Chip" Begnaud was a trusty assisting with maintenance and cleaning around the police station when he escaped this morning.

Begnaud is a resident of rural St. Martinville. The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for him in the area.

Running slightly ahead of schedule, demolition of the existing 4,000 square foot public library, at the corner of Courthouse and Main in Breaux Bridge, began Tuesday, January 14 and by Thursday this phase of the project was all but complete with only debris and concrete slab removal remaining to be done.

BB Police Nab Theft Suspects

Breaux Bridge Police report that the two white female suspects wanted in connection with a November 23 theft at the Wal Mart in Breaux Bridge have been apprehended. Jaime Henderson, 54, was arrested and charged with Theft of Goods. Brandi Rene Credeur, 29, was also charged with Theft of Goods. Both subjects are from the Crowley area.
