The St. Martin Parish Courthouse Annex under construction in 2009. Parish Government rededicated a 4.5-mill property tax originally levied for library construction to finance the annex and renovate the main courthouse, built before the Civil War. Parish Council is now considering asking voters to rededicate revenue from the tax for drainage improvement and to refurbish parks.

Faced with a choice of giving a tax break or renovating and expanding the antebellum parish courthouse, voters back in 2005 chose the latter.

Project Front Yard gets boo$t from WoodmenLife

At the March 1 Parish Council meeting, the parish was presented with a donation of $4,150 from WoodmenLife to support efforts of Project Front Yard in parish schools. That amount will be used to finance the distribution of the project’s activity books to school students throughout the parish.

Lane closure on La. 347 thru August

Beginning Monday, March 14, La. 347 between St. Martinville and Parks will be reduced to one lane in alternating directions for roadway construction.
Alternating lane closures will continue on this section of roadway through the scheduled completion of construction in August 2016. All lanes will be opened at night and on Sundays.
