St. Martin Sherrif's Office and DEA Collecting Unwanted Prescription Drugs

On Saturday October 26th, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its seventh opportunity in three years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Gumbo Cook Off Goes Public

St. Martin Hospital, in concert with the United Way of Acadiana, went public this year with their third annual gumbo cook off held this past Frinday on the grounds of St. Martin parish’s only full service hospital.

Liberty Heights Community Center, the non-profit organization that distributes food once a week off the Catahoula Highway, is giving away free fruits and vegetables at the St. Martinville's Farmers Market, Old Market Street. The produce comes from a farmer's convention in New Orleans last weekend.

On October 15, 2013, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from Lafayette General Hospital Personnel concerning a female who was severely beaten in the Parish of St. Martin. The victim received great bodily injury and her condition was listed as critical.

BBPD Locates Third Stolen Vehicle

Following up on a story reported on Tuesday, October 15, the Breaux Bridge Police Department reported that the third vehicle, stolen from Courtesy Dodge, was located in the woods off of Wild Cherry Lane in Breaux Bridge later in the afternoon of the 15th.

Suspect Escapes From Custody - Later Recaptured

On October 14, 2013 at approximately 11:30 a.m. Javien Demouchet, black male, 21 years of age, escaped from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office while being processed on a warrant for failing to appear for Drug Court.
