Lake Charles Woman Charged With Bringing Contraband Into Jail
On Saturday, November 9, 2013, at approximately 9:55 a.m., Demita Kneeland, 27, Lake Charles, along with a male juvenile, were visiting an inmate at the St Martin Parish Correctional Center. During the course of the visitation, it was discovered that Ms. Kneeland attempted to conceal synthetic cannabinoids in a greeting card.

The Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Lab confirmed on Friday, Nov. 9, one West Nile virus-positive sentinel chicken in lower St. Martin Parish, said Jessie J. Boudreaux, Jr., president of Cajun Control LLC, mosquito abatement contractor for Parish Government. The sample was collected on Monday, Nov. 4.

The 39th Session of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office P.O.S.T. Academy graduated 15 students in a ceremony held Tuesday, November 5, at the St. Martin Sheriff's training facility located on the Terrace Highway in St. Martinville. Relatives, friends and colleagues attended the event which drew roughly sixty attendees.
