Residents Who May Be Affected By Possible Flooding Urged To Secure Hazardous Materials

Due to the possibility of flooding in some areas of St. Martin Parish, residents are being asked to secure any hazardous materials they may have in their yards. This includes but is not limited to: gas cans, gas storage tanks, paint cans, insecticides, propane canisters, tanks, etc.

St. Martinville bypass meeting Jan. 21

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will conduct a public meeting Thursday, Jan. 21, to discuss a new highway that would serve as an La. 31 bypass around St. Martinville.
The meeting will be held 5-7 p.m. in the recreation center in the city’s Magnolia Park.

Arnaudville Chamber’s new CEO has diverse experience in France

Last month Huey “Joey” Wyble was appointed CEO of the Arnaudville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Wyble is a native of Arnaudville. After a few years of working as a pediatric nurse in Acadiana, he left for France where he taught English communication and American culture at top French universities for the past 16 years.

SUSEPECT BEING SOUGHT IN ARMED ROBBERY OF GROCERY STORE

Early Sunday morning, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed robbery of Doucet’s Grocery in the Butte La Rose area.
The suspect is described as a white male who was wearing dark clothing and a black mask covering his face. The suspect was armed with a pistol during the robbery.
